Upanishad
says, “A true rich is one who has enough to help others”.
As you all are aware AFI has been running various
awareness campaigns on bone health successfully. During this journey
AFI has reached millions both rich and poor. Now and again we keep
coming across some heart rending bone related sufferings of people
with little means.
AFI resolved in December 2009 to appeal to the
members of community who are kind hearted and more blessed to help
these not so fortunate members to fight their ailments and 'Put Them
Back to Feet'.
AFI has devised packages for donations which are
listed below. Even
smallest of contributions will be appreciated and are welcome, which will
strengthen our ‘bone health fund for needy and poor’
described under package 5. Below poverty line patients will be
carefully selected and the donors will be informed about how their
money is utilized. Kindly issue the cheque in name of

Osteoporosis {WEAKNESS of bones} is caused
by calcium, vitamin D & protein deficiency is rampant in
poor malnourished population of India. One in three women and
one in five men after 45 yrs suffer from this disease in India.
This weakness of bones can lead to fracture of wrist, spine
& hip with very minor falls and jerks. The poor family
cannot afford the treatment as the newer and more effective
medicine are very expensive and if the patient sustains
fracture of hip or spine may require surgery and because of
poverty can't afford it.Even good nursing care is not given to
such unfortunate patient. If these senior citizens are
neglected they may even die due to lack of proper treatment and
care. But the good news is osteoporosis is preventable disease
to a great extent with medicines physiotherapy and nutrition,
So help such a patient.
