1. Book ‘Defeat Osteoporosis’ launched in May 2010
Defeat Osteoporosis is written by Dr. Sushil Sharma, Chairman, Arthritis
Foundation of India. The book provides a great insight into this health challenge
which is responsible for weak bones and majority of fractures. This disease is
highly prevalent, but preventable and treatable to a great extent.
2. “Fix the Fracture, don’t forget Osteoporosis” a campaign amongst Orthopedic surgeons
AFI is conducting a survey whereby senior Orthopaedic surgeons in 8 cities of India are sharing their clinical experience about the difficulties in management of Osteoporotic fractures.
The survey will be eye opener following which AFI will launch its campaign all over India “Fix the fracture, don’t forget Osteoporosis”
3. "Strong Bones Solid Kids" School Program
AFI is educating school children through interesting Audio visual, Quiz, Exhibition etc about how taking care of bones at this age will help them in achieving peak bone mass & prevent Osteoporosis (Weak Bones) at a later age. We are targeting about 100 Schools in 10 cities in different parts of India.
4. ‘Integrated Bone Health Program’ in various Workplaces
AFI holds awareness camp on bone health which features:
1. Film show on Osteoporosis
2. Bone Mineral Density checkup
3. Checkup by Orthopaedic specialist
4. Guidance on Nutrition
5. Demonstration of Exercises, correct postures to prevent various bone ailments in workplaces by a Physiotherapist.

5. Women Leader’s Bone Health Initiative
AFI is going to organize a “Women Leaders Bone Health Initiative” in Mumbai, whereby eminent women of society from various walks of life like medicine law, administration, police, art drama, literature, sports will pass a resolution about osteoporosis & the great challenge it posses in women. This resolution will impress upon the people especially the millions of women, Govt. of India, State Govts., policy makers & the media that how important it is to fight osteoporosis in women. It will also help in propelling the health policy in right direction. The event is extremely innovative in its concept & method to sensitize the women of India regarding bone health .It will also highlight the huge economic burden of disease on individuals, families and the nation especially in not so rich country like ours.
6. Walk Meet on Arthritis
Country Wide Campaign on Arthritis in form of "Walk Meets"& National
Advertising Campaign on Television & Print Media in various cities of India.
At each ‘Walk’ meet hundred's of sufferers interact and get counselling from a
panel of eminent Orthopaedic specialists.
